A Church for Everyone in Tosu
Tosu is a small but lively city — a crossroads of Saga and Fukuoka Prefectures, home to long-established residents and a growing number of people who have arrived from other parts of Japan and from around the world. Tosu Chapel exists to be a place of welcome for all of them.
Our congregation is small enough that people know each other by name, yet diverse enough that any given Sunday brings together people from different backgrounds, nationalities, and walks of life. That diversity — held together by a shared faith — is one of the things we treasure most.
Bilingual and Cross-Cultural Faith
One of the distinctive features of Tosu Chapel is our bilingual community. Our services and materials are offered in both Japanese and English, reflecting our desire to be a place where barriers are broken down — where the Gospel is truly for everyone, regardless of language or background.
For expatriates and international residents in the Tosu and Saga area, finding a church where you can worship in your language — and be understood — can make an enormous difference. For Japanese members, worshipping alongside people from other cultures enriches faith and broadens perspective. We believe this is a small glimpse of what Heaven will look like: people from every nation gathered around one God.
How We Do Life Together
Community at Tosu Chapel extends beyond Sunday services. Here is a glimpse of how we connect throughout the week and year:
- Sunday Worship: Our weekly gathering is the heartbeat of our community — a time for singing, prayer, Scripture, and message together.
- Bible Study Groups: Small group gatherings during the week where people read Scripture, ask honest questions, and pray together in an informal setting.
- Shared Meals: Food is a universal language. Regular fellowship meals after Sunday services are some of our most cherished times together.
- Seasonal Celebrations: From Christmas and Easter to summer gatherings, we mark the seasons of the Christian year with joy and creativity.
- Pastoral Care: Our pastor is available to meet with anyone who needs conversation, prayer, or support — member or not.
New to Church? You Are Welcome Here.
Perhaps you have never attended a church before. Perhaps you grew up in church but have been away for a long time. Perhaps you are simply curious about what Christians believe and how they live. Whatever brings you here, you are genuinely welcome at Tosu Chapel.
You will not be pressured, judged, or made to feel out of place. You can simply come, observe, and take things at your own pace. We believe that faith is a journey, and we are happy to walk alongside you wherever you are on that journey.
